Study Hall is an ongoing experiment in dismantling the barriers, both physical and conceptual, that traditionally separate artists from students in classroom settings. Housed in Pratt Munson's photography studios in Utica, NY, this in-class gallery transcends screen-based education by featuring tangible, often ephemeral prints produced onsite and destroyed at semester's end, revealing photography as a living form shaped by dynamic exchange.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the relationship between Pratt Institute and Pratt Munson in 2025, this exhibition honors alumni who have witnessed the gallery's evolution from its beginnings. The work of former students return to the studios where their practices first took shape, embodying Study Hall's commitment to sustained dialogue. Their diverse works, from staged tableaus to intimate glimpses of private lives, challenge photographic hierarchies through personal vision. The reuniting of these artists illustrates how education transcends graduation, fostering continuous mentorship cycles.

By amplifying historically marginalized voices and showcasing diverse lens-based practices, we continue to speak directly to Pratt Munson's student body, ensuring authentic and nuanced representation. Welcoming alumni back reinforces that photography's conversation remains fluid and evolving, gaining depth when former students become guides for future generations.
