Safe Travels
curated by Sydney Ellison of
The Photographer’s Green Book
Victor Hugo Green’s Negro Motorist’s Green Book was a guidebook to help Black drivers safely navigate road travel in America from 1936-1967, the Photographer’s Green Book paid homage to Green’s original concept by creating a virtual guidebook for people historically excluded from lens based art. Safe Travels draws inspiration from both of these projects and explores what it looks like to navigate life by connecting various artists' approaches to topics such as family, land, culture, and history. Safe Travels is about more than making it home, it explores the trials and spots of respite that occur throughout a journey.
